Now as God leads us into year two we face new exciting opportunities (and new challenges) as we enter the extremely tough 3A West Valley league. We will be by far the smallest enrollment school in the league. However we know our young men and women will compete hard, play together and do their very best for an audience of one, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It's been an exciting build-up to our first athletic season. Our dedicated football team, girl's soccer team and our cheer squad are off to a great start, working hard in the grueling heat as we eagerly practice for our historic first season at Horizon. To support these teams Fitness Director Scott Olson led the conversion of an existing pole barn on our property into a first class fitness and workout center.
These pioneering teams will mark the beginning point for our athletic vision. We envision hundreds of boys and girls from throughout the greater Portland area competing for the glory of God on our own beautiful green fields, at our stadium and in our gyms. God has already shown His great favor on Horizon by providing tremendous coaches and leaders who love the Lord and have shown remarkable excellence in past coaching endeavors.
Under the leadership of Pastor Stan Russell, Principal George Crace and with the great support of involved and positive parents and staff we optimistically look forward to an exciting and successful athletic program in 2006 and beyond.
In His grip,
Dave Brown
Athletic Director
