Art Parent Day Group Shot 2006-07Ceramics Art 3B Spring Semester

Students took on the challenge of wheel throwing, learning to throw cups, bowls, plates, teapots, lidded jars, casserole dishes and vases created with individually thrown and stacked forms.  Professional art works were studied teaching a variety of art forms.  Students visited Oregon Potter's Association's Showcase at the Portland Convention Center for the high school student show  and high school student throwing competition.  Parent Day consisted of students teaching their parents how to throw a bowl form on the wheel.

Art 3A  Second Half of Spring Semester

Students studied a variety of art forms and art mediums.  Began with using conte', charcoal, graphite and pastel with still life moving to landscape drawings and color theory, finishing with landscape tiles.  They created 4 studies of professional artist Barbara Forrest's watercolor paintings to learn from her composition and use of color.  Visiting Watercolor Artist and Horizon mom Victoria Poarch visited the class to teach on watercolor paintings.  0607 Art class 1
Students moved into figure studies learning how to draw the skeleton and the figure. Finishing with self-portrait drawings they looked at Eric Carls's work and cre-created a self-portrait with his method of using collage.
The semester ended with studying graphic layout and design.  Students re-created cereal box covers and a "Steps to Peace" flyer by Billy Graham.
